MAGA Morality – My Christmas message is a harsh one, but someone needs to speak truth to power and wealth. We cannot repent our sins, unless we first recognise what they are. Our modern culture is deeply harmful to ourselves and other life forms. These deeply entrenched unwise habits are: exponential growth economics, pronatalism, colonialism, patriarchy, and serving the wealth hierarchy without challenge.
Storytelling versus Common Sense – Unfortunately, sentiment, storytelling, and Charles Dickens have all played a part in the burying of common sense.
UK – Estimating a Sustainable Population – My writing frequently addresses the matter of overpopulation. I have now set up a webpage advising how to estimate a sustainable population size for the UK. There is a great deal of talk about immigration in the UK at the moment. If we fail to acknowledge the problem of overpopulation these discussions rapidly develop racist overtones.
The Metacrisis Mindset – This article defines a new concept: ‘The Metacrisis Mindset.’ This mindset prevents us from challenging the ecocidal and unsustainable model of exponential economic growth. This mindset is taught in our schools and universities and keeps us trapped on the self-destructive path to climate breakdown and ecosystems collapse. (published 29/11/2025)
Can the UK Lead Change? – This article suggests how the UK might lead the world towards strategic, equitable economic downsizing, and thereby break through the metacrisis mindset that grips the world. (published 11/11/2025)
Limbic Loopholes – This article explains how our limbic system response causes us to bypass logical and rational reasoning when applying entrenched methodologies; this helps to keep us trapped in the metacrisis mindset.
The Eco-destruction hierarchy – this article suggests that we rename the wealth and power hierarchy ‘The Eco-destruction Hierarchy’. This helps us all to recognise the folly of admiring those people who are doing the most damage to Earth’s eco-systems and our collective chance of survival.
Armchair Activism – this article links to many wonderful activists, who are helping to guide our world into a wiser direction. The examples include satirical comedy, poetry, educational communicators, music, art, and fiction.
Can Fiction Help Us Thrive – Marcus Neves is the author of the Jackson’s Debate, in which aliens are debating the ethical issues preventing them from eating humans. In these sequel stories he weaves in some of my ideas.
Envisioning Eco-equity This article explores the concept of equity. It suggests what sort of equity we might realistically aspire to achieve; and it explores the type of education needed to achieve that aspiration.
Demystifying Degrowth This elaborates on earlier ideas and suggests that we could begin to frame equitable economics by learning from the philosophy of Ubuntu.
The global awakening is gathering pace rapidly. Africans are seeing through neocolonial hypocrisy. For example, this LinkedIn post from Kenyan Rashid Abubakar revealing his disillusion with the operations within the United Nations. Degrowth advocates like Matt Tutt are challenging the ‘progrowth network’; the graphic above was taken from this post from Matt. Matt also provided a link to an enlightening article about how elites rebrand ‘power’ as ‘virtue’. Finally, I recommend this Instagram gem from Pissedmagistus, in which he explains some of the flaws in our economy in a superbly succinct and sardonic manner. Numerous commentators like Kyle Kulinski, Yannis Varoufakis, Jeffrey Sachs, and groups like Double Down News, and the Collapse Curriculum are doing a fantastic job of challenging all the bonds that bind us all into the business-as-usual of daily ecocide and genocide.
A summary list of all my articles since my previous blog now follows, they appear in reverse chronological order:
Global Economic Collapse – (24/06/2025) Provides evidence and reasons why the balance in power of global finance is shifting. Suggests that global finance is an unstable pyramid scheme heading towards unpayable levels of debt. Also looks at why the West celebrates and follows incompetent leaders.
TIC data shows collapse of US$ – (20/06/2025) Summarises the content of this video explaining why the global financial market is losing confidence in the US Federal Reserve.
Overturning Oligarchy (09/06/2025) – Celebrates the ‘Fight the Oligarchy’ tour in the USA that was led by Bernie Sanders and Alexandra Ocasio Cortez.
The Pivotal Point is Now (23/02/2024) – This was intended to inspire readers to believe that we can unite and begin to redeem ourselves from past and present mistakes.
When Teaching Turns Toxic (7/12/2024) – Shows Israelis teaching their children the sense of entitlement needed to take part in the execution of genocide on Palestinians.
The Parable of the Paradigm Shift (23/11/2024) – This article points out the importance of asking the right questions. We increase the risk of self-extinction on our current trajectory. We must ask: ‘Why are we not considering options that would maximise efforts to return within the carrying capacity if Earth?’.
My most recent four Medium articles October 19 – November 6th explain why I feel the election of Donald Trump as president of the USA might make academics more willing to consider promoting a mindset shift away from ecocidal growth economics and towards equitable economic downsizing.
The Wealth Supremacy Mindset (19/10/2024) explains how an ugly legacy of White Supremacy is perpetuated in our education and can aptly described as the Wealth Supremacy Mindset. (Also available on this website at this link)
Aspirations versus Laws (03/11/2024) This article explains how collective aspirations, especially those that are held by wealthy people, can render our judicial structure powerless. (Also available on this website at this link)
A Paradigm Shifting Presidency (06/11/2024) This article explains why the recent election in the USA may invoke a significant shift in mindset. (Also available on this website at this link)
Paul Ole Leitura is the founder and executive director of Mulika Africa, an organisation focussed on empowering the Maasai people. The Tanzanian government are attempting to disconnect the Maasai from the land that they have roamed and loved for centuries, this puts Maasai people and their culture at risk of disappearing.
The document below is a proposal for enhancing the education in a selection of schools attended by Maasai, with a view to emphasising sustainability issues, whilst retaining their strong connection to the land. Contacts are provided in the document if you would like to assist with this idea.
3 September 2024 – Estimating Earth’s Carrying Capacity, this provides a simple guide to the factors involved when estimating Earth’s carrying capacity.
22 September 2024 – Storytelling and Science, this article is intended to help the non-scientific community to understand what formal science has to offer. It also explains how science has been corrupted by growth economics and the delusional propaganda that accompanies business-as-usual. Business-as-usual will put financial profit before ecosystems health every time.
29 September 2024 – The Pro Life Paradox, traces my personal learning curve, from the light-bulb moment when I learned about I=PAT and ecological overshoot. It reveals the irony of the name ‘Pro Life’ that has been adopted by the anti-abortion movement in America, and my first exposure to the World 4.5 demographic model.
12 October 2024 – Is Technology a Solution or a Problem, this article uses the theory in the World 4.5 demographic model to suggest a wiser global vision for our shared future.
